Attorney Profile

Aggressive advocate committed to achieving clients’ goals

Tara Lawrence is an experienced and well-respected trial lawyer who has served as an elected District Attorney, statewide executive director of a victims’ rights advocacy group and worked at some of Portland’s top law firms as a litigator.

Crime victims have rights and remedies that are not always best served in the criminal justice system, but can be helped through the civil system where they are individually represented by a private attorney.

Tara’s practice is focused on serving clients that have suffered injuries resulting from criminal conduct, negligence, and cases were both forms of wrongdoing are present.

Tara is not afraid to take on the tough cases and has been appointed to the Attorney General’s Task Force on Victims’ Rights Enforcement in recognition of her commitment to victims of crime. As a prosecutor who has tried cases ranging from aggravated murder to sex abuse to burglary, Tara is particularly well equipped to be her clients’ voice in the courtroom and standing up for their rights. In addition to being her county’s top prosecutor from 2003 to 2007, Tara has also helped litigate complex civil cases including those involving wrongful death, medical malpractice and sexual abuse cases.

Tara is a native Oregonian, a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Portland with an undergraduate degree in psychology and graduated from Willamette University College of Law in 1998.

As an experienced and trial-tested member of the Oregon State Bar since 1999, Tara has become a regional and even national voice for victims’ rights.  She appears on local and regional media outlets, and has been quoted in national media, including CNN, the New York Times, the American Bar Association (ABA) Journal, and other national media.

Tara is committed to her clients receiving justice by fighting to hold wrongdoers accountable for their actions.
